The victim's name was Mohibullah, a resident of the Khas Kunar district.
The Taliban had asked Mohibullah from Kunar province to come to Nangarhar for a talk.
The Taliban continue to kill former soldiers. Mohibullah is the third former member of the police force to be killed by the Taliban in the last few days in Nangarhar province.
