On Monday, while visiting the historical minarets of Ghazni, these tourists were kidnapped.

In the past, the Taliban kidnapped foreign citizens and then used them in exchange for their prisoners.
On August 7, 2016, Mr King, an American citizen, and Mr Week, an Australian citizen, after leaving the University campus on Dar al Amaan Road, were abducted by the Taliban.
The two were later released in exchange for the release of Anas Haqqani, one senior member of the Taliban.
