National Resistance Front, Kabul: The United Nations General Assembly in New York issued a resolution regarding Afghanistan under the Taliban occupation. In this resolution published on Thursday the 10th of November, the United Nations General Assembly expressed concern about the expansion of the activities of terrorist networks and groups in Afghanistan.
The president of the current round of the assembly said that the life of the people of Afghanistan under the authority of the Taliban is like living in the "total annihilation".
In the resolution, the violation of human rights, especially of women, the spread of international terrorism, the cultivation and production of drugs, the rights of minorities, the killings and shootings of former soldiers, and the harassment and torture of journalists and civil activists are mentioned.
The members of the United Nations Assembly, highlighting their apprehensions about the Taliban's inability or deliberate violation to solve the crisis in Afghanistan, have asked the Taliban to observe and fully respect all bilateral or multilateral treaties, covenants or conventions that Afghanistan has already signed.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have deprived the people of Afghanistan of their most basic rights. Women are rapidly being removed from public life, and men are killed every day for not cooperating with the Taliban. The Taliban even annulled the laws in force in Afghanistan and do not believe in any international conventions and covenants.
This resolution has many paradoxes. The United Nations has asked a terrorist ruling group to pay attention to the security of the citizens Afghanistan. The group, whose most noticeable source of income is the cultivation, production and drugs market, has been asked to stop the drug trade and respect the rights of the people of Afghanistan.
International Terrorism is Expanding
Csaba Kőrösi, the president of this round the General assembly of the UN, says, "Terrorists and criminals are once again expanding in Afghanistan." He mentioned the Haqqani network and Al Qaeda as part of the terrorist organizations active in Afghanistan and expressed his concern about the presence of foreign terrorists in Afghanistan; he said that the Taliban should show their serious commitment to the fight against terrorism and prevent the entry of terrorists in Afghanistan.
In the resolution, the Taliban is asked to take specific steps against all terrorist organizations, especially the Al-Qaeda network, the ISIS group and other affiliated groups. At the same time, in July of this year, Ayman al Zawahiri, the leader of Al Qaeda, emerged from a guest house in Kabul after years of hiding.
The guest house, located in the capital's first class area, belonged to senior Taliban officials which was attacked by American drones. In the attack, in addition to the leader of Al-Qaeda, close relatives of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the leader of the Haqqani network and the interior minister of the aggressor Taliban group were also killed.
The Taliban's hosting of a top-ranking Al Qaeda figure in Kabul is an undeniable confirmation of the deep ties between the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Despite the killing of the leader of Al Qaeda and the publication of dozens of reports about the presence and expansion of Al Qaeda activities under the Taliban, the UN General Assembly still expects the terrorist group to stand against international terrorism. Meanwhile, the Taliban themselves constitute a major part of global terrorism.
Many reports have been published so far about the presence of foreign fighters in Afghanistan. Another sign of the spread of international terrorism under the Taliban was the launch of rockets from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan in April this year. According to the latest statistics, the Taliban hosts more than 10,000 foreign fighters, including Arabs, Chechens, ISIS and Al-Qaeda, which is increasing day by day.
Taliban the Drug lords
In the resolution of the 77th UN General Assembly, it is emphasized that the Taliban must understand the destructive consequences of terrorism. The United Nations has emphasized that the cultivation and trafficking of drugs in Afghanistan provide the financial needs of terrorist groups, and there should be a fight against it.
As a part of this resolution, it is said that the international community once again expects the Taliban to fulfil its obligations in dealing with the cultivation, processing and transfer of narcotics.
In the twenty years that the Taliban kept the warmth of war burning against the governments of Afghanistan, the cultivation and production of narcotics were one of its biggest sources of income. Based on the report of the United Nations in 2021, the income from drugs in the hands of the Taliban reached more than 2 billion dollars.
After the Taliban invaded Afghanistan, they issued a decree to ban the cultivation and production of drugs, but this decree, like other decrees, proved to be false, and not only did the drug trade stop, but it also increased based on reports.
The Economic Situation

The resolution states that more work should be done to restore the banking and financial system and the possibility of accessing the assets belonging to the Central Bank of Afghanistan and strengthening efforts to provide humanitarian aid. During the last year, more than 1.5 billion dollars have been given to Afghanistan by the international community, but the people of Afghanistan are still immersed in poverty.
The Taliban receive 40 million dollars a week, but the poverty rate is still rising. According to the World Food Program report, more than 97% of the people of Afghanistan are below the poverty line. Expecting action to improve the economic situation under the Taliban is very illusory and unimaginable. Although this group has received hundreds of millions of dollars, it is unclear how these huge sums of money will be used.
However, nothing more can be expected from a terrorist group like the Taliban except for the expansion of international terrorism by using these aids.
Providing security; A request from the security disrupter

The most prominent case of this can be found in the killing of vaccinators by the Taliban in the first days of the occupation of Afghanistan. Based on the articles of the resolution, the citizens' fundamental freedoms are suppressed and increasingly limited by the Taliban.
The members have emphasized that the Taliban should reconsider their decision not to open secondary and high schools for girls. Policies and practices that restrict human rights and women's freedom are a "red line" for the Taliban, and it has kept the door of girls' schools closed for more than fifteen months. In addition, initial reports are being published that this group will soon close universities to female students. This resolution also emphasizes that perpetrators of harassment and attacks on journalists should be brought to justice under national and international laws.
And a guarantee to respect the freedom of opinion and expression and the freedom of the media should be given. However, the Taliban have always announced the security of the life and work of journalists and pretended that they respect freedom of expression.
However, in the past year, there have been reports of arrests, torture and mistreatment of journalists by the Taliban, and the access of journalists and media to information has been greatly decreased.
The UN General Assembly resolution was approved with 116 votes in favour and ten abstentions from China, North Korea, Pakistan and Russia. But what is clear is the continuation of the Taliban's cycle of killing, which plunges people into darkness and death everyday.
In a year and a half of the Taliban occupation, Afghanistan has witnessed the collapse of all its sectors, and everyday it is proven more that the Taliban commit war crimes and that Afghanistan has become a centre of human rights violations.

Afghanistan is rapidly becoming a potential danger for the region and the world, and If this is the view of the world community and the continuation of the tyranny of a terrorist group is not stopped, soon or late insecurity and terrorism will spread to the region and the world.
