Balkh, National Resistance Front: Taliban tortured, disfigured and then shot and killed a young girl in the seventh district of Mazar-e-Sharif on Saturday.
The young girl was a midwife, and Taliban fighters arrested her and her colleague and transferred her to a military base in the province.
The Taliban first flogged the midwife, then cut off parts of her body with a razor blade, amputated one of her legs, and fired 12 bullets at her half-dead body.
This crime of the Taliban coincides with the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, A month in which Muslims worship and perform the duty of fasting and good deeds.
