The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) sees the forthcoming Moscow Format Consultative Meeting on Afghanistan as an opportunity for regional diplomacy to address the rapid deterioration of security, political, socioeconomic, human rights and humanitarian situation in the country under the brutal and discriminatory rule of the Taliban.
The NRF strongly believes that a closer and more effective cooperation and complementary approach among the neighboring and regional countries and international stakeholders can help pave the way for peace, security, prosperity, and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
The Russian Federation will host the fourth session of the Moscow Format Consultative Meeting on Afghanistan on 16 November 2022. The meeting will be attended by the special envoys of the six bordering neighbors of Afghanistan (Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and China) as well as the Russian Federation, India, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Afghanistan is the heart of Asia and its security, stability and wellbeing bears directly on Central Asia, South Asia, the Far East, the Middle East and the wider international community.
Since the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul in August last year, Afghanistan has turned into a hub for regional and international terrorism, which threatens the country’s neighbors, its region and beyond. The cultivation and trafficking of opium and heroin and other transnational organized crimes have skyrocketed.
The governance system has collapsed and the entire population has been taken captive by the Taliban terror group which is under the UN sanctions regime and stands accused of gross violations of human rights, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Ultimately the future of Afghanistan has to be decided by the people of Afghanistan in cooperation with the regional and international stakeholders. The NRF represents the aspirations of the people of Afghanistan for a peaceful and prosperous future. It is ready to play a key role in the process and resumption of the country’s rightful place in the international community.
