Today the Islamic Republic of Iran ceded the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran to the Taliban. This action was taken despite the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and other political movements of the country striving to encourage the relevant officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran through interactions and correspondence at high levels conveying its adverse consequences.
Nonetheless, based on their policy, they allowed the representatives of the illegitimate and the terrorist group of Taliban to enter the diplomatic mission of Afghanistan.
The political presence of the Taliban in Iran, with its dark history and evident hostility to the culture, civilisation, beliefs and values of the majority of the people of Afghanistan, is perilous, especially for the millions of refugees who have sought protection in Iran from the fear, threats and pressure. It could cause more worry and uneasiness for the refugees.
The platform for relations and harmony between the people of Iran and Afghanistan has always been the many cultural commonalities that the Taliban are determined to erode.
Handing over the diplomatic mission of Afghanistan in Iran to a group that is a murderer of the people of Afghanistan, its leaders still on the United Nations blocklist, and no country establishing official diplomatic relations with it is dubious and contains an unpleasant message to the people of Afghanistan and other countries.
The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan compliments the compassion, support and cooperation of the conscious nation of Iran with the people of Afghanistan.
In addition, we appreciate the collective efforts of our diplomats with the commitment to our country and the employees of the embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran in serving our people during the past one and a half years despite the arduous circumstances.
We support their decision not to cooperate with the representatives of the Taliban group, and we stand by their side.
The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan expresses its regret over the taking over of Afghanistan's prestigious diplomatic mission by a criminal group. Certainly, this situation will not last long, and our people will soon restore their lost diplomatic prestige.
